Ensuring
you have the correct measurements will save you time and
money...
This section will detail how to measure for each type of
blind we sell.
TOOLS REQUIRED / BASIC INSTRUCTIONS
To correctly measure for all types of blinds, you will require the following tools:
- Always use a metal tape measure (e.g. 3M metal retractable)
- Pen / Pencil
- Paper to record the measurements
For accuracy, always
- Take all measurements in millimetres (mm)
- Measure the Width first
- Measure the Drop second
PROTRUSIONS
Allow for any protrusions that may effect the fitting or appearance of your blind. These include catches, tiles, window sills, dado-rails etc. Make a note of these protrusions when placing your order as this may effect the size the blind is to be manufactured to.
CHOOSING WHERE TO FIT - TO RECESS OR NOT
Blinds can fitted either inside a window recess, or outside of the recess. The inside recess method offers a flusher look. It is important to decide which method you will use and measure accordingly using the instructions below.
INSIDE RECESS MEASUREMENTS
WIDTH
Measure the width of the window recess (including the frame) from edge to edge in 3 places. Take the smallest measurement.
DROP
Measure the drop by taking the measurement from the top of the window recess (including frame) to the sill in 3 places. Take the smallest measurement.
OUTSIDE RECESS MEASUREMENTS
Measure the exact width you would like to cover ensuring you measure equal distances from the edge of the window opening. It is recommended you add 75mm each side of the opening to ensure ample blind coverage.
Measure the exact drop you would like the cover. We make no modifications to the measurements given.
